The Mayor of Kableshkovo told Iskra.bg: Full support in the Municipal Council for the referendum! We are ready for anything!
The proposal of the mayor of Kableshkovo Ivaylo Ivanov to hold a local referendum on the investment plan for the construction of a stone quarry on „ Malka Biberna-South “ meets full support in the Municipal Council . The report has been submitted by him and will be considered at a special session of the local parliament on Monday, November 11 at 16:00 .
Ivanov told Iskra.bg that prior to the meeting of the Municipal Council, committees were held, at which the request for a local referendum met with full support from the councillors . They have only made minor corrections in the report itself, but all are adamant that there should be a referendum of the residents of the municipality of Kableshkovo.
Mayor Ivaylo Ivanov stressed that the inhabitants of the town and neighbouring settlements are ready for anything, and he personally expects a 100% turnout at the local referendum . The intention is to hold it early next year. The final date will be announced on Monday.
Ivanov also revealed to Iskra.bg that the only talks he has held so far about the investment plan to build a quarry for the extraction of construction materials with the Ministry of Energy have been in writing:
“Only by mail. They ask me. I answer. But now they will have to take an interest in public discontent. If they don’t recognize the 2009 signatures from the residents of Kableshkovo and neighboring towns, now I think they’re going to have to get interested!”
The mayor of Kableshkovo has also put his signature to the citizens’petition against the construction of a stone quarry on “Malka Biberna-South” . He explained that he had joined as a resident of the settlement and as a citizen.
Ivanov was adamant that they were acting in accordance with the law and would not give up their intention to stop this investment project , which would have disastrous consequences for Kableshkovo and the whole region . People are ready for anything, the mayor stressed. Asked by Iskra.bg whether protests are planned in front of the Ministry of Energy in Sofia , he said:
“I don’t want to go to extreme measures, but the townspeople are ready for anything! Not in Sofia, if we have to, we will go to Brussels! The situation is very serious! I hope we don’t have to.”
So far, no such demonstration is planned because efforts are focused on the local referendum. The mayor stressed that its results cannot be disregarded because the will of the people becomes the law for the institutions .
Mayor of Kableshkovo categorical: Get ready! There will be a referendum on the stone quarry!
